How It Works: Getting Your Vehicle Certified

Step 1: Initial Registration

Vehicle owners begin by registering with the Indian Institute of Vehicle Safety (IIVS) through our online portal or by visiting one of our certified centers. During registration, provide your vehicle details, including make, model, year, and registration number, along with your contact information. This helps us schedule your audit efficiently.

Step 2: Pre-Audit Preparation

Once registered, you will receive a checklist of requirements and safety standards to prepare your vehicle. This may include ensuring proper tire condition, brake functionality, lighting systems, and other critical safety components. Our team is available to offer guidance if needed.

Step 3: Scheduling the Audit

Choose a convenient date and time for the safety audit from the available slots on our portal. Audits can be conducted at our certified centers or, for commercial fleets, on-site at your location, subject to availability. You will receive a confirmation with all necessary details.

Step 4: Comprehensive Safety Audit

Our certified auditors will conduct a thorough inspection of your vehicle. This includes a detailed examination of mechanical systems, safety features, and compliance with Indian road safety regulations. The process typically takes 1-2 hours, depending on the vehicle type.

Step 5: Review and Feedback

After the audit, you will receive a detailed report outlining the findings. If any issues are identified, our experts will provide recommendations for corrective actions. You’ll have the opportunity to address these issues and request a re-inspection if necessary.

Step 6: Certification Issuance

Upon successful completion of the audit, meeting all safety and compliance standards, IIVS will issue an official certification. This document verifies your vehicle’s roadworthiness and can be used for regulatory purposes or insurance benefits. The certificate will be available digitally and, upon request, in hard copy.

Step 7: Ongoing Support

We offer ongoing support to maintain your vehicle’s safety standards, including periodic re-certifications and access to our consulting services. Stay updated with safety regulations through our regular newsletters and training programs.

For any questions or assistance throughout the process, our customer support team is available 24/7.
